My Hood | New York City
Growing up in this vast and fast-paced mecca of art, fashion, culture and life is as most who come from all around can imagine... tiring (record scratch) no, no we kid. It's exciting of course. You can start your day off imagining what it will be like and still have no idea of the surprises "The City" has in store for you.

From the distant music being played down the block to the street art, in all its vibrant colors, in every direction you look one can draw inspiration from all around. For us it's the history of this town and how it came to be that inspires us the most. From the old tenement buildings and cobblestone streets to the converted horse stables of midtown, you'd never know by just looking at them, reminds us of the stories this town has to offer. Of course the city is also much larger than the island that it's known for. We as "Outer Borough" kids grew up in these towns surrounding the center of our universe. One of us is from The Bronx where the gritty gangs of the 70’s emerged from rubble and ash into becoming social activist that shaped their community and brought about changes that hold up to this day.
The other is from Brooklyn where the music and art of a generation shaped the direction of pop culture as we know it. Growing up in these places was great but we knew there was more across those bridges. As teens and young adults being in the downtown scene was amazing, places like CBGB's (now a John Varvatos Store) where some of the greatest bands began were huge influences in our lives. We realize now how lucky we were to have attended shows there, now that it's gone. The stories of those young adults(at the time) shaped us and showed us the potential we had if we were determined to explore our possibilities.

We say this story and brief histories of our bustling patch of earth because we realize that it's still just a small picture and an even smaller chapter of the larger amount of stories out there. We hope to tell the stories of those that inspire us, to provide you with materials that are 100% honest and true, and to bring our style into your everyday life.
